Felix Starck and Selima Taibi rolled into Collingwood in a matte grey bus—dusty, road-worn, and half-built. Their film Expedition Happiness was in motion, but their tiny home on wheels needed help. A quiet referral brought them to the gravel lot behind my timber-frame shop.
They weren’t just looking for a builder—they were looking for someone who understood the spirit of the journey. Someone who saw the story behind the structure. We got to work that afternoon, breathing new life into the bus without tearing it apart.
I added a custom under-bed crate system using reclaimed cedar, carved spice rails with locking pegs, sealed the floor pan, insulated the windows, and modified the overhead compartments. Every detail was designed for the road, and for the soul.
When they drove off, the bus looked nearly the same—but everything had changed. It was stronger, warmer, and wiser. What we built wasn’t just a home upgrade. It was a chapter in their story—and mine.
